FREDONIA, NY—Buffalo State (13-17/9-7) strengthened its hold on a SUNYAC playoff position, rallying for a split at Fredonia (25-7/13-5) today, answering a 1-0 loss with a 6-3 win in the late game.

Buffalo State outhit Fredonia 5-4 in the opening game, but the Blue Devils put together a pair of hits and a stolen base to score the game's only run in the third inning. Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) suffered the hard-luck loss, going the distance for Buffalo State. Five different Bengals had hits, including doubles by Aleesha Williams (Cheektowaga/Pioneer) and Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale).

Buffalo State converted 10 hits into six runs in the second game. Fenski and Williams were key contributors at the plate again, with Fenski knocking one out of the park, and Williams going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Krista Baker (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) was also 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Williams also earned the win, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs.

Buffalo State will host Ithaca in a non-conference double dip tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
