BUFFALO, NY-- RIT (9-6) limited host Buffalo State (2-8) to just five total hits and swept a non-conference doubleheader at Bengal Field today, winning 2-1 and 8-1.
Jordan Dudish (Grand Island/Grand Island) slapped an infield single that scored
Laken Pogorzelski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) in the fifth inning to give the Bengals the lead in the opener, but RIT plated two runs on three hits in the top of the seventh to earn the opening game win. Pogorzelski finished 1 for 3 with a double and the run scored, and Buffalo State totaled just three hits for the game.
Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) was solid on the mound for the Bengals, allowing just six hits and striking out four, but did not get enough offensive support to earn her first collegiate win.
RIT out-hit Buffalo State 12-2 in the nightcap, and broke open a 1-1 tie, scoring two runs in the fifth inning and added five more in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Buffalo State's only run came on another RBI single by Dudish in the fourth inning. Dudish and
Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville North) recorded the only two hits of the game for the Bengals.
Sam Tilkins (Grand Island/Grand Island) suffered the loss, allowing 12 hits and eight runs in 5 2/3 innings of work, before
