Buffalo State will open its home schedule this Saturday against Western Connecticut State University at noon at Coyer Field.  Buffalo State is looking for its first win after watching a pair of second-half leads slip away in the first two games of the season. West Conn opened its 2011 season with a 48-0 home loss to SUNY Maritime last Saturday, allowing 455 yards on defense, compared to gaining just 125 yards on offense. The Colonials have lost 12-consecutive games, dating back to a 37-34 win over TCNJ on Nov. 7, 2009.

The Bengals defeated this same West Conn team, 71-3, in Danbury, Conn. last season, setting school records for points touchdowns, points scored and largest margin of victory in a game. The Bengals found the end zone a total 10 times (eclipsing the previous single-game touchdown record of eight), and in all tallied points in six different ways, scoring four times via the ground, three through the air, on an interception, fumble recovery and kick returns, and added a field goal.
