GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (12-2/5-2) had its eight-game winning streak snapped by a hot-shooting Geneseo (9-4/4-2) in a 72-64 loss in a SUNYAC game today in Schrader Gymnasium.

Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) had a double-double to lead four Buffalo State players scoring in double-digits with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) added 10 points and eight boards.  Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) scored 11 points, and Kala Crawford (Middle Falls/Saratoga Springs) chipped in 10 points and six assists.

Geneseo hit 10 3-pointers, including eight in the first half, and led by as many as 13 before taking a 40-30 advantage into the intermission.  Buffalo State rallied to cut the deficit to just two at 49-47 in the second half, but the Knights used a 9-0 run to regain the separation and held on for the win.  The Knights outscored the Bengals 30-9 from long range, cashing in on 10 of 24 attempts, compared to 3 of 16 long-distance shooting by Buffalo State.  Geneseo also connected on 18 of 21 free throw attempts.

Buffalo State will look to start a new winning streak when it hosts Potsdam next Friday at 6 p.m.
