BUFFALO, NY-- Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) had 24 points and nine rebounds to lead Buffalo State (14-2/7-2) to a 69-62 victory over visiting Plattsburgh (6-8/3-6) in a SUNYAC clash this afternoon at the Sports Arena.

Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) added 16 points, and Divine Sebuharara (Vestal/Vestal) had 10 for the Bengals.  Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) chipped in eight points, eight rebounds, six assists and seven steals.

Katleen Payne (Goshen/Goshen) led Plattsburgh with 25 points and 12 rebounds.  Brittany Marshall (Malone/Franklin Acad.) knocked down 15 points, and Jalen Hart (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) had six points and 13 boards.

Buffalo State forced turnovers on six of the Cardinals' first eight possessions and raced out to a 14-4 lead.  Plattsburgh quickly bounced back, however, evening the score at 27-27, before the Bengals closed the opening period with a 33-29 advantage.  Buffalo State never lost the lead in the second frame, leading by as many as 11 before holding on for the win.

Plattsburgh dominated inside, outrebounding the Bengals 52-39 and outscoring Buffalo State 40-26 in the paint.  The Bengals forced 21 turnovers, however, and shot 42-percent from the field.

Buffalo State will host two more SUNYAC games next weekend against New Paltz and Oneonta on Friday and Saturday respectively.
