OSWEGO, NY—Buffalo State (2-5-1/1-4-1) let a 3-1 lead slip away and dropped a 5-4 decision at nationally No. 1-ranked Oswego (6-0-0/5-0-0) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

Matt Bessing (Elma/Cheektowaga) led Buffalo State with two goals and an assist.  Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim) and Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) added a goal each for the Bengals.

The Bengals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and then led 3-1 midway through the second period on the strength of three power-play goals.  The Lakers answered with four-consecutive goals, however and pulled ahead 5-3 midway through the third period.  Bessing netted his second goal of the game with 48 seconds remaining, but the Bengals could not find the equalizer. 

Oswego outshot Buffalo State, 42-23.  Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 37 stops for the Bengals.  Buffalo State finished 4 for 9 on the power play, while Oswego was 1 for 7.

Buffalo State will visit Cortland tomorrow at 7 p.m. for another SUNYAC contest.
