BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State (2-1-1/1-1-1) took a three-goal lead and managed to hold off a rally by Morrisville (0-4/0-3), as the Bengals claimed a 3-2 victory in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Ryan Salkeld (Suffolk, VA/Churchland), Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River) all scored for Buffalo State.  Clay Lewis (Sparks, NV/Hug), Ben Kramer (Great Neck, NY/Great Neck South), Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim), Elijah Cohen (Peabody, MA/Peabody Veterans) and Jason Cleaver (York, PA/Central York) each picked up one assist.

Salkeld recorded his first collegiate goal and gave the Bengals a 1-0 lead when he scored at 12:06 of the first period.  The Bengals tallied two more early in the second with back-to-back goals just 17 seconds apart to extend their lead to 3-0.  Morrisville netted its first at the 11:51 mark of the second and added another midway through the third to get to within one, but couldn't complete the comeback.

The Mustangs held a 30-29 advantage in shots, with both teams ineffective on the power play at 0 for 6.  Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) had 28 saves in the win.

The Bengals will play at Penn State tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
