PLATTSBURGH, NY— Plattsburgh (3-0/2-0) erupted for three power-play goals in less than a minute in the third period to pull away from visiting Buffalo State (2-3-1/1-2-1) in a 6-1 victory tonight in a SUNYAC game.

Plattsburgh scored the only goal of the first period before Nick Melligan (Sanborn/Niagara-Wheatfield) tied the game for the Bengals midway through the second stanza.  The Cardinals netted what turned out to be the game-winner with 26 seconds left in the middle frame, and then exploded for four more goals in the third.  After Plattsburgh scored early in the final period, the wheels fell off for the Bengals, and the Cardinals netted three goals in 47 seconds during a five-minute power play.

Plattsburgh outshot Buffalo State, 47-20 and finished 3 for 8 on the power play, while the Bengals were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.  Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) finished with 41 stops for Buffalo State. 

Buffalo State will look to get back on track tomorrow night at Potsdam.
