Box Score POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (3-3/1-2) saw a 17-point halftime lead disappear only to pull away again at the end to claim a 68-56 victory over host Potsdam (1-7/0-3) this evening in a SUNYAC contest.

Junior transfer Shay Jackson (Syracuse/Henninger) had a breakout game for Buffalo State, going 8 of 9 from the field and scoring 16 points to go with six rebounds in just 14 minutes.  Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) added 14 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman Mariah Norris (Endicott/Endicott) chipped in 10 points. Kelly Kell (Port Ewen/Kingston) had eight points and eight assists, and Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) had eight points and nine rebounds.

Buffalo State put together a 16-3 run in the first half and opened up a 36-19 lead at the intermission.  The Bears regrouped at the break and assembled a 12-2 run of their own out of the locker room to cut the deficit to seven.  Potsdam continued to chip away and evened the score at 50-50 with 6:03 remaining.  The Bengals hit the next two buckets, however, and pulled away with free throws down the stretch. 

The Bears were able to climb back in the game, going 19 of 30 at the free-throw line.  Buffalo State finished 16 of 20 at the stripe, although six of their trips to the line came in the final minute of the game.  Buffalo State shot 39-percent from the field, compared to just 25-percent shooting by Potsdam.

Buffalo State will continue its North Country trip tomorrow with a 2 p.m. tipoff at Plattsburgh.
