Box Score PLATTSBURGH, NY— Plattsburgh (5-2/3-1) closed the game on a 16-4 run to pull away from visiting Buffalo State (3-4/1-3) for a 71-60 win this afternoon in a SUNYAC matinee.   

Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) was the lone Bengal to score in double-figures with 12 points and she also had 10 rebounds before fouling out.  Shay Jackson (Syracuse/Henninger) and Kelly Kell (Port Ewen/Kingston) chipped in nine points each. The team's leading scorer and rebounder Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) was held to just five points and six rebounds, playing just 13 minutes because of foul trouble.

Plattsburgh led by 11 early and held a narrow 28-27 edge at halftime.  The lead bounced back-and-forth in the second half and Buffalo State nosed ahead 56-55 with 4:11 remaining.  The Cardinals took over the rest of the way, however, spurred by a pair of clutch 3-pointers.  Plattsburgh scored the game's final eight points, including the last five from the free-throw line.

Both teams struggled shooting from the field, but Plattsburgh outscored the Bengals 15-6 from 3-point range and held a 54-42 rebounding advantage.

Buffalo State will visit Hamilton next Saturday for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
