POTSDAM, NY— Potsdam (7-11-2/5-6-0) converted three power-play goals and skated to a lopsided 5-1 victory over visiting Buffalo State (10-9-2/6-5-1) in a SUNYAC game tonight at Maxcy Ice Arena.

After opening the scoring late in the first period, Potsdam pushed its lead to 4-0 midway through the second period with three quick goals.  Matt Bessing (Elma, NY/Cheektowaga) finally got the Bengals on the board with his fifth goal of the season with assists from Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair), but Buffalo State would not sustain any momentum.  Potsdam completed the scoring just 1:44 into the final frame.

The Bears outshot Buffalo State, 35-26.  Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 30 saves for Buffalo State.  Potsdam finished 3 for 8 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 0 for 5.

Buffalo State will visit No. 3 Plattsburgh tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
