BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State's women's basketball team will hold its WBCA "Play 4 Kay” celebration to raise money and awareness for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund® in conjunction with its game against Geneseo on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Sport Arena.
The WBCA Play 4 Kay initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone, formerly known as "Pink Zone" and "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities.
Buffalo State will wear pink uniforms, purchased through a generous donation from assistant coach
Max Payne, whose wife Janet lost her battle with breast cancer in 2007. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase pink t-shirts.
The Bengals men's basketball game also against Geneseo will follow with an 8 p.m. tipoff.
Tickets for the doubleheader are $5 and will be available at the Sports Arena ticket window beginning at 5 p.m. on game day.
