BUFFALO, NY— Morgan McNamara (Oswego/Oswego) netted a game-high five goals to go along with one assist to give Fredonia (10-2/4-0) a 15-11 win over host Buffalo State (8-5/1-3) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon at Coyer Field.
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) led the Bengals with three goals and one assist.
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/Cicero-N. Syracuse) and
Mariah DeBolt (Waterloo/Waterloo) each scored twice.
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) and
Jenn Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) finished with a goal and an assist apiece, while
Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran) and
Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union Endicott) each tallied one goal.
In addition to McNamara, Katie Glagolev (Webster/Webster Thomas) and Amy Simon (Amherst/Amherst) also bolstered Fredonia's attack with three goals apiece. Kaila Fox (Clifton Springs/Midlakes), Cortney Ciaschi (Ithaca/Ithaca), Karli Brinthaupt (Horseheads/Horseheads) and Megan Mietelski (Fairport/Fairport) recorded one goal each and Katie Kleine (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) added two helpers.
The Blue Devils held the early advantage with a 2-0 lead before the Bengals finally got on the board about midway through the first half. Fredonia never trailed in the game and took a slim 6-5 lead into halftime. Despite being outshot 21-14 in the second period, the Blue Devils outscored Buffalo State, 9-6, in the second to come away with their seventh consecutive win of the season.
Buffalo State bettered Fredonia in shots, draw controls and ground balls, but committed 18 turnovers to the Blue Devils' 12. Casey Chiesa (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished with 12 saves in the win, while
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) had nine saves in the loss.
Today's game was covered by Time Warner Cable Sportsnet Buffalo and will be broadcast tape-delayed tomorrow at 10 p.m.
Buffalo State will host Geneseo next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
