Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ITHACA, NY—Buffalo State (17-15) watched Ithaca (20-11) touch home plate 22 times in a pair of losses today in a non-conference doubleheader, falling 11-2 in five innings and then 11-6.

Ithaca converted three hits and a Bengal error into three first-inning runs, and then closed out the opener with a six-run fifth inning.  Buffalo State's only offense came on a two-run homer by Aleesha Williams (Cheektowaga/Pioneer) in the fourth.  The Bengals collected just six hits for the game, including a double each by Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) and Brieanna Brink (Buffalo/Sacred Heart).  Williams suffered the loss in the circle, giving up 11 hits and 10 runs (nine earned) in 4 1/3 innings, before being relieved before the final run scored.

The Bengals fell behind 7-0 after the first three innings in the late game.  After an RBI single by Taylor Swiatek (East Aurora/Orchard Park) put the Bengals on the board in the fourth, Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) ripped a three-run bomb in the next at bat to get Buffalo State right back in the game.  The comeback bid would fall short, however, as the Bombers plated four more runs in the sixth, before the Bengals completed the scoring with a two-run homer by Shelly Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) in the seventh.  Swiatek, Strapason and Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) all collected two hits apiece for Buffalo State.  Freshman Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) took the loss, giving up 10 runs on eight hits and eight walks in five innings, before being relieved by Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield).

Buffalo State will conclude the home portion of its 2012 schedule with a non-conference doubleheader against Nazareth on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
