Softball Secures SUNYAC Spot with Split at Brockport

Lindsay Goff had two hits in the first game and added a double in the late game
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (20-18/10-8) locked up a spot in the SUNYAC Championships, earning a split at Brockport (25-13/9-9) in today's regular season finale, claiming the first game by a 6-3 count, before dropping the second contest 8-0 in five innings.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the Golden Eagles in part on the strength of a three-run home run by Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) in the fifth inning.  Brockport made things interesting with a three-run sixth to cut the deficit in half, but Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) retired the side in order in the seventh to preserve her 12th win of the season.  Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) was 2 for 4 with two runs scored for the Bengals.  Coneys allowed just five hits in the complete game, while striking out eight.

Brockport made short work of the Bengals in the late game, scoring eight runs on nine hits in the final two innings to end the game early.  The Golden Eagles outhit Buffalo State 11-3 for the game.  Goff hit a double and was the only Bengal base-runner to get past first.  Aleesha Williams (Cheektowaga/Pioneer) was in the circle for the loss.

Buffalo State clinched the No. 4 seed entering next week's six-team double-elimination SUNYAC Championships.  The Bengals will open against No. 3 Geneseo on Thursday at 1 p.m.
