Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY—After converting 10 hits into an 11-1 five-inning victory in the opener, Buffalo State (11-7/4-2) only managed two hits in a 3-1 loss in the late game, splitting a SUNYAC doubleheader against Oswego (7-8/3-3) today at Bengal Field.

The Bengals jumped out to an early lead on a three-run blast by Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) to straight-away centerfield in the first inning and continued to pull away for the abbreviated victory in the first game.  Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) finished 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.  Shelly Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) also had two hits, including a double and scored three times, and Kate Brownell (Batavia/Oakfield-Alabama) was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored.  The lone Oswego run came in the fourth inning, as freshman Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) continued the impressive start to her collegiate career, pushing her record to 7-0.  Coneys allowed just four hits and struck out seven.

Buffalo State was unable to get the bats going in the nightcap, and Oswego made an early lead hold up.  The Lakers plated one run in the first inning and added two more in the second.  The Bengals finally broke the shutout with a leadoff home run by Lekki in the bottom of the seventh inning, but they could not build a rally.  The homer was Lekki's 28th of her career, moving her into second on Buffalo State's all-time list, four shy of Deanna Hunt's record of 32.  Buffalo State only had one other hit in the game, an infield single in the second inning by Strapason.  Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) suffered the hard-luck loss in the circle.  After giving up three runs on four hits in the first two innings, she settled into a groove,  and gave up just four more hits and did not allow another runner past second base the rest of the way.

Buffalo State will host Cortland tomorrow for another SUNYAC twin bill starting at noon.
