Buffalo State (11-5/4-3) closed the regular season with a four-game winning streak, including a dramatic come-from-behind 13-12 win over Brockport to clinch the No. 3 seed in this week's SUNYAC playoffs hosted by Cortland. 

The Bengals will do battle with No. 2 Fredonia in the second semifinal on Friday at 3 p.m.  Top-seeded Cortland will play No. 4 Brockport in the first semifinal, and the winners will meet in the title game on Saturday at noon.

Buffalo State enters the weekend led offensively by a pair of seniors in Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) and Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) who have rewritten the Buffalo State record books.  Shaddock is the SUNYAC's leading scorer this season and has set new school single-season marks with 91 goals and 125 points.  She also ranks third in NCAA Division III history with 432 career points in 68 games.  Clarkson is fourth in the SUNYAC with 108 points, and has a league-best and school record 78 assists. 

Another senior Jamey Handley (Auburn/Auburn) anchors a defensive corps with a team-leading 46 ground balls, while freshman goalkeeper Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) has backstopped the Bengals to 11 of their 12 victories. 

Head coach Meg Stevens is one win shy of achieving her 100th win in just her 10th season at the helm.  Her Bengals are making their sixth playoff appearance in seven years, but are searching for just their second-ever postseason victory.  Their only prior playoff win came on a 19-9 victory as the top seed over No. 4 Geneseo in 2009.

Buffalo State dropped its regular-season meeting against Fredonia at home by a 15-11 count on April 10.  The Blue Devils were led by Morgan McNamara's game-high five goals, while Shaddock had three goals and an assist for the Bengals.
