Softball Season Ends with Loss at No. 11 Cortland

Kyrstin Lekki closed out her career by hitting her school-record 21st double of the season
Box Score CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (20-20) had a hit in each inning, but could not put anything together, as its season came to an end with an 8-0 loss in six innings to top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 11 Cortland (36-6) today at the SUNYAC Championships.

The game was scoreless through three innings, but the Red Dragons opened the scoring with a three-run double in the fourth.  Cortland then broke the game open with a four-run fifth that featured two Bengal errors and a three-run homer, before ending the game with a solo-homer in the eighth.

The Bengals used three pitchers in the loss, with Aleesha Williams (Cheektowaga/Pioneer) taking the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings.  Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) then surrendered four unearned runs on two hits in one full inning, and Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) allowed the final run.

Six different Bengals had one hit each, including a double apiece by Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield), Shelly Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale).

Buffalo State's season ends with a record of 20-20.
