BROCKPORT, NY—After a sluggish start, Buffalo State (9-7-2/4-4-1) battled back and gutted out a 3-2 victory over host Brockport (4-12-1/3-6-0) in a SUNYAC game tonight, avenging a first-semester home loss to the Golden Eagles.

Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) had a goal and an assist, and Nick Melligan (Sanborn/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim) also scored for Buffalo State.  Anthony Orange (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield South) added a pair of assists.

After being outshot 14-3 and outscored 1-0 in the first period, the Bengals held a 40-15 advantage in shot over the final 40 minutes and produced just enough offense to earn the win.  McKinney evened the score at 1-1 early in the middle frame, and then Melligan pulled the Bengals even again at 2-2 with just 24 seconds left in the second period. The Bengals then capitalized on a two-man advantage early in the final period when Hope netted what would prove to be the game winner.

Kevin Carr (Uniondale, ON/Uniondale) finished with 27 saves and has allowed two goals or fewer in six consecutive games.  Buffalo State outshot Brockport, 43-29.  The Bengals committed just two minor penalties and did not allow a power-play goal, while converting on 2 of 10 man-advantage opportunities.

Buffalo State will play another SUNYAC game tomorrow at Geneseo at 7 p.m.
