Box Score BROCKPORT, NY— Brockport (6-11/3-7) dominated the glass and Buffalo State (8-8/4-5) had a dismal shooting night, as the host Golden Eagles claimed a 66-56 victory tonight in a SUNYAC contest.
Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) finished with 17 points and seven rebounds before fouling out. Freshman
Mariah Norris (Endicott/Endicott) netted a career-high 14 points, and
Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Brockport never trailed and took a 33-25 lead into the intermission. Buffalo State battled back and cut the deficit to just 42-41 midway through second half, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 10-0 run, growing their lead to 11, their largest of the game. Buffalo State would not threaten again.
The Bengals shot just 27-percent from the field, 7-percent (1 of 15) from 3-point range and 58-percent (19 of 33) from the free throw line. Brockport shot 40-percent from the floor and outrebounded Buffalo State, 55-41. The Bengals stayed in the game by forcing 19 Brockport turnovers, while committing just nine. Brockport's bench outscored Buffalo State's, 49-19.
Buffalo State will next welcome Plattsburgh to the Sports Arena on Friday for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
