Box Score MORRISVILLE, NY— Dan Turgeon (Centennial, CO/Cherokee Trail) scored twice and Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) had a goal and two assists, but Buffalo State (2-2/2-2) could not erase an early deficit as it dropped a 5-3 decision to host Morrisville State (1-3/1-3) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second stanza, including three special teams goals with two on the power play and one scored while shorthanded.

The Bengals finally got on the scoreboard with a power-play goal of their own late in the second period when Turgeon scored with assists from Zannella and Adam Rossi (Surrey, BC/Burnsview). Turgeon netted his second of the game and fourth of the season early in the third period with assists from Zannella and Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim), before Zannella added an unassisted shorthanded marker to cut the deficit to 4-3 with more than six minutes remaining. Morrisville potted a third power-play goal just over a minute later, however, and held on for the win.

Morrisville outshot Buffalo State, 37-25. Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) allowed three goals on 27 shots before giving way to freshman Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) who gave up two goals on 10 shots in his first collegiate action. The Mustangs finished 3 for 6 on the power play, while the Bengals were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

Buffalo State will play its home-opener next Friday against Potsdam at 7 p.m.
