Box Score PROVIDENCE, RI— Johnson & Wales (8-3) netted a shorthanded goal midway through the third period and held on for a 2-1 victory over visiting Buffalo State (5-4-3) in a non-conference game tonight.

JWU opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period, but Cory Gurski (Hilton, NY/Hilton) evened the game in the second frame for the Bengals with an assist by Nick Schiro (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield). The Wildcats tallied what proved to be the game-winner while shorthanded with less than eight minutes to play.

Buffalo State outshot JWU, 36-20, including 12-3 in the third period, but could not net the equalizer. Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) finished with 18 saves for Buffalo State.

The Bengals and Wildcats will face off again tomorrow at 2:40 p.m.
