Women’s Basketball Falls at Oneonta, 59-43

Box Score ONEONTA, NY—Buffalo State (11-11/7-8) scored just 17 second-half points and dropped a 59-43 decision to host Oneonta (12-11/9-7) today in a SUNYAC contest.  The 43 points by the Bengals were their lowest offensive output this season.

Alicia Bowman (Albany/Guilderland) led Buffalo State with nine points and added 10 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.  Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) added eight points and 13 rebounds, and Kelly Kell (Port Ewen/Kingston) had eight points and eight rebounds.

The Red Dragons led by as many as 14 in the first half, but Buffalo State used a 13-1 run to close the frame down just 28-26.  The Bengals were unable to pull even in the second half, however, as used an 11-1 run to pull away and did not look back.

Buffalo State owned a 57-37 rebounding advantage, but shot a dismal 25-percent from the field and was 0 for 10 from 3-point range.  Oneonta shot 35-percent from the field and was 4 of 16 from long range.

Buffalo State will look to stay in the hunt for the sixth and final SUNYAC playoff spot with a critical contest at Fredonia on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
