WASHINGTON, Pa.—Jenn Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) and Renee Glass (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) scored four goals each as Buffalo State (1-0) dominated host Washington & Jefferson (0-1) in a 15-3 victory in today's frosty season opener.
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) and Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endwell) each tallied two goals and two assists, while Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) and Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran) each had one goal and one assist. Emily Dillon (Jordan/Jordan-Elbridge) also scored for the Bengals.
The Presidents opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game, but Buffalo State responded with a 13-0 run to take control and pull away. After leading 7-1 at halftime, the Bengals pushed the advantage to 13-1 midway through the second half. W&J finally scored its second goal of the game with 12:23 remaining, and the teams traded goals down the stretch.
Buffalo State outshot the Presidents 40-7 and held a 13-6 advantage in draw controls and a 25-10 edge in ground balls. Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) made two saves and allowed one goal in the first half, and Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) surrendered two goals and made three stops in the final 30 minutes.
The Bengals will open their home schedule on Tuesday with another non-conference game against Elmira at 4 p.m.
