Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran) tallied seven goals and two assists and Buffalo State (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 21-14 victory over host Roberts Wesleyan (3-2) today in a non-conference contest.
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) added four goals for the Bengals, while
Jenn Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) scored three times, and
Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego) chipped in two goals and two assists.
Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endwell) had two goals and an assist, and
Renee Glass (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville),
Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) and
Rebecca Galanti (Hamburg/Frontier) also scored for Buffalo State.
Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) made five saves while allowing 11 goals in just under 40 minutes, before being relieved by
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) who had six stops and surrendered just three goals.
Buffalo State got off to a slow start for the second game in a row, falling behind 3-1 early. The Bengals responded quickly, scoring eight of the next nine goals before taking a 9-5 advantage into the intermission. Buffalo State pulled away in the second half.
The Bengals held a narrow 31-28 edge in shots, but dominated the ground game with a 33-19 advantage in ground balls.
Buffalo State will host Oberlin in another non-conference game on Friday at 4 p.m.
