Box Score CLERMONT, Fla.— William Smith (3-3) netted six goals in the first 5:56 and held off a second-half Buffalo State (4-2) rally to defeat the Bengals, 14-8, this afternoon at the National Training Center.

Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/Cicero-N. Syracuse) led the Bengals with three goals.  Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union Endicott) finished with two goals, while Kendra Thomas (Painted Post/Corning West), Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran), and Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego) had one apiece.

The Herons held an 8-3 lead at halftime, but the Bengals mounted a comeback, opening the second half with a 4-0 run.  William Smith responded with a run of its own, extending its lead to 13-7 with less than 10 minutes to play and sealing the win.

Buffalo State held a slim 24-23 advantage in shots, and had 12 ground balls to William Smith's eight.  Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) had five saves in 53 minutes of play.

The Bengals will next play nationally-ranked Hamilton on Monday at 6 p.m.
