Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (7-7/2-2) raced to a 9-1 five-inning victory in first game against visiting Oneonta (3-9/1-3), but needed to battle back to dig out of an early hole and earn the sweep with a 10-7 win in the late game of today's SUNYAC doubleheader.

Buffalo State batted around and jumped out to a 7-0 first-inning lead in the opener, belting six hits including a three-run homer by Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster).  Oneonta answered with one run in the second, but Buffalo State added another run in the fourth and ended the game early with a pinch hit RBI double by Kara Stein (Amherst/Amherst) in the fifth. 

Nine different Bengals had one hit apiece.  Kate Brownell (Batavia/Oakfield-Alabama) was 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Stephanie Novo (Cheektowaga/Depew) and Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) each had RBI singles.  Brieanna Brink (Kenmore/Sacred Heart) finished 1 for 1 with two runs scored.  Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) picked up her third win of the season in the circle, allowing five hits with four strikeouts.

Buffalo State spotted the Red Dragons a 5-0 lead through two innings in the late game as the Red Dragons took advantage of four early Bengal errors.  Buffalo State got on the board in the second inning and then erupted with a four-run fourth and a five-run fifth en route to the victory.

The Bengals collected total of 14 hits and were led by Strapason's 3 for 4 performance with a double and three RBIs.  Carly Knight (Lewiston/Lewiston-Porter) was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIS, and Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was also 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.  Goff and Brownell also pitched in a pair of hits each.

Oneonta finished with 11 hits, but just three of them came off of Coneys who earned her second win of the day.  She entered the game with two on and no outs in the fifth inning, and threw the final three innings, allowing just one unearned run.

Buffalo State will host a non-conference doubleheader against RIT on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
