Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) had five goals and five assists and Buffalo State (2-0) ripped off 13 consecutive goals to cruise to a 16-5 victory over visiting Elmira (0-1) in a non-conference game today at Coyer Field.
Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran) bolstered the Bengals' offensive onslaught with four goals and two assists.
Jenn Shaddock (Corning/Corning East),
Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) and
Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endwell) scored twice each, and
Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego) also scored for Buffalo State.
The Bengals started slow, falling behind 3-1 and then 4-3 early, before responding with a 13-0 run over a span of 23 minutes and 34 seconds. Buffalo State had gained a 10-4 lead by halftime and continued to pad its lead with the first six goals of the second period, before the Soaring Eagles completed the scoring with 9:02 remaining.
Buffalo State maintained a 29-11 advantage in shots.
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) and
Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) played a half each between the pipes for the Bengals. George allowed four goals, while DiDuro surrendered just one marker and made six saves.
Buffalo State also held a 27-20 edge in ground balls and forced 29 Elmira turnovers. The Bengals committed 28 turnovers.
Buffalo State will next play at Roberts Wesleyan on Monday at 4 p.m.
