Box Score FREDONIA, NY—No. 17 Fredonia (13-0/5-0) took control early and never let up en route to a 13-5 victory over visiting Buffalo State (7-7/2-4) today in a SUNYAC contest.
Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego) scored three goals to lead the Bengals, while
Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) and
Sydney Dudish (Grand Island/Grand Island) also scored. For Dudish, it was her first collegiate tally.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead and led 5-1 at the intermission. Buffalo State tried to climb back in the game, closing the margin to 6-3 early in the second half, but Fredonia answered with seven consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.
Fredonia outshot Buffalo State 29-15, including 17-4 in the first half. The Blue Devils held a 28-20 advantage in ground balls, and a 19-13 edge in turnovers against. Buffalo State won the draw control battle, 13-6.
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) surrendered five goals and made two saves, and
Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) had six stops and eight goals against for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will travel to Geneseo next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
