Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (12-14/6-6) came up short in a SUNYAC doubleheader against Brockport (16-11/10-2) this afternoon, losing 4-1 and 6-4.
The Bengals managed just two hits in the opening game, while Brockport belted 11 hits and capitalized on four Buffalo State errors to produce enough offense for the win. After the Golden Eagles opened the scoring with a run in the second, the Bengals pulled even in the bottom of the frame when a
Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) single and throwing error led to
Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) coming around to score.
Brockport broke the tie with a two-run homer to center field in the fourth, however, and then added an insurance marker on a Bengal throwing error in the seventh.
Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) suffered the loss, despite allowing just two earned runs with six strikeouts.
In the second game, the Golden Eagles scored three runs in the top of the first and added one each in the second and third innings to hold a 5-2 lead heading into the fifth. The Bengals cut the deficit to 5-4 leading into the seventh, but couldn't complete the rally.
Jordan Dudish (Grand Island, Grand Island) was 2 for 3 with a run scored and
Kate Brownell (Batavia, Oakfield-Alabama) was also 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Kelsi Leo (Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls) took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs on eight hits in two innings.
Buffalo State will host another rescheduled SUNYAC doubleheader tomorrow against Geneseo at 3 p.m.
