Box Score GENESEO, NY—Geneseo (10-4/4-3) raced out to an early lead and cruised to an 18-8 victory over visiting Buffalo State (7-8/2-5) today, officially eliminating the Bengals from SUNYAC playoff contention with one regular season game remaining.
Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endicott),
Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo/W. Seneca West) and
Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego)
led the Bengals with two goals each.
Becca Martinez (Syracuse/Corcoran) and
Ashley Coleman (Central Square/Central Square) added a goal apiece.
The Knights took an early 7-1 lead and pushed the advantage to 11-3 at the intermission. Geneseo continued to pull away, stretching the lead to 18-5 before Buffalo State netted the game's final three goals.
Geneseo owned a 40-18 advantage in shots and a convincing 22-5 advantage in draw controls.
Adelena DiDuro (Geneva/Geneva) made nine saves while allowing nine goals, while
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) surrendered seven goals and made two saves.
Buffalo State will end its season on Saturday at Potsdam.
