Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (14-18/7-10) snapped a six-game losing streak and blanked host Potsdam (11-20/2-15) in both halves of a doubleheader, 6-0 and 1-0, but it proved to be too little, too late, as the Bengals were eliminated from SUNYAC playoff contention when Oswego defeated Brockport in the first game of their doubleheader this afternoon.

Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) tossed a three-hitter for her first shutout of the season as Buffalo State cruised to the win in today's opener.  The Bengals scored six runs on 11 hits and two Potsdam errors.  Five of those runs came in the second inning which included a grand slam by Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale), who finished 2 for 4, adding a triple.  Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) was 3 for 4, and Shelly Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) was 2 for 3.

The Bengals scored the only run of the late game when Strapason hit an RBI single that scored Fenski in the fourth inning.  The Bengals finished with just four hits, but the pitching tandem of Kelsi Leo (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Sam Tilkins (Grand Island/Grand Island) held the Bears in check, teaming up to throw a five-hitter.  Leo gave up just three hits in four innings to earn the win, and Tilkins picked up the save, allowing just two hits in three innings.

Buffalo State will conclude its season with a non-conference doubleheader at home on Tuesday against RIT starting at 3 p.m.
