Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State (15-19) concluded its season today, earning the split with RIT (13-21) in a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon. The Bengals blanked the Tigers, 7-0, in game one, and dropped the nightcap, 5-1.
In game one, Buffalo State used a pair of three-run innings to take a 6-0 lead heading into the fourth. With bases loaded in the bottom of the second, Shelley Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) got things started when she reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error, with
Taylor Swiatek (East Aurora/Orchard Park) and
Carly Knight (Lewiston/Lewiston-Porter) scoring.
Kate Brownell (Batavia/Oakfield-Alabama) also scored that inning, giving the Bengals a 3-0 lead. Her next at bat, Brownell doubled to left field, scoring three more runs. Buffalo State added another run in the fifth to close out all scoring. Knight finished 2 for 3 and Brownell was 1 for 2 with three RBI and a double.
Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) allowed six hits as she picked up her ninth win of the season.
The Bengals could only muster one run on four hits in the nightcap, as the Tigers controlled the game, scoring four runs in the fourth inning.
Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 2 for 4 with a double, while
Stephanie Novo (Cheektowaga/Depew) finished 1 for 3 with a triple a run scored. Buffalo State used three pitchers in the game, with
Kelsi Leo (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) getting the loss in the circle allowing two runs on three hits.
