Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ITHACA, NY—Buffalo State (8-11) dropped both halves of a doubleheader for the second-consecutive day, falling 5-3 and 9-8 to host Ithaca (12-6) this afternoon.

Buffalo State plated a run in each of the first two innings of the first game to take a 2-0 lead.  The Bombers answered with five of the game's final six runs, however, playing small ball, collecting 10 single-base hits and taking advantage of a pair of Bengal errors. 

Buffalo State produced eight total hits and also did not have any extra base knocks.   Shelly Maggard (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Brieanna Brink (Kenmore/Sacred Heart) each went 2 for 3 to pace the Bengals' offense.  Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) pitched the complete game for Buffalo State, giving up three earned runs while allowing 10 hits and three walks.

The Bengals led early in game two as well, mounting a 5-1 lead through three innings, before Ithaca exploded four a six-run fourth and then pulled ahead 9-5 through six innings.  The Bengals plated three runs in the seventh, but the rally fell short with two runners left on base. 

Each team belted 12 hits in the game, but all but one of the Bengals' hits came from the top four batters in the lineup.   Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 4 for 4 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.  Stephanie Novo (Cheektowaga/Depew) was 3 for 4, and Carly Knight (Lewiston/Lewiston-Porter) and Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) had two hits apiece.

Buffalo State used three pitchers the combined to give up 12 hits and five earned runs with just one strikeout.  The Bengals' defense added three errors in the loss.

Buffalo State will play another non-conference two-game set at home on Tuesday against the University of Rochester at 3 p.m.
