Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY—After dropping the opening game 7-0, Buffalo State (10-12) roared back from a pair of deficits and outlasted visiting University of Rochester (6-14), 12-11, in a cold and rainy night cap.

Buffalo State produced just six hits in the opening game, compared to 12 by the Yellowjackets that included four doubles.  Rochester led 3-0 after four innings and then broke the game open with a three-run fifth before adding another in the seventh.

Kate Brownell (Batavia/Oakfield-Alabama) and Stephanie Novo (Cheektowaga/Depew) had two hits each for the Bengals.  Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) took the loss, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs in five innings.

Rochester jumped out to a 6-0 lead through two innings in the late game, including a two-home, four-run second inning.  Buffalo State battled back and took an 8-7 lead in the fifth inning.  With the rain pouring down and pitchers struggling to find command, the game continued and the Yellowjackets pulled back ahead with a four-run seventh to take an 11-8 lead. 

The Bengals rally in the bottom of the seventh all came with two outs.  After throwing error on the short stop extended the inning, Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) hit an RBI single, and then Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) hit a rocket off the shin of the third basemen that scored two more runs to even the score at 11-11.  Brownell then singled through the left side to plate the winning run.

Brownell finished 3 for 5, while Novo, Fenski and Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) collected two hits apiece.

Kelsi Leo (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) earned the win in relief, throwing the final 5 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and six runs.

Buffalo State will play another non-conference pair at Allegheny on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
