Sarah Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) netted a game-high four goals to help propel Buffalo State (7-5/2-2) to a 17-10 win over visiting Oswego (4-6/1-2) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon at Coyer Field.
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-N. Syracuse) finished with three goals and three assists.
Niki Paulhardt (Hanover, MN/Oswego) had two goals and three assists.
Becca Martinez (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) and
Meghan Farrell (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) each had two goals, while
Rebecca Galanti (Hamburg, NY/Frontier),
Kendra Thomas (Painted Post/Corning West),
Emily Dillon (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) and
Ashley Coleman (Central Square, NY/Central Square) all chipped in single markers.
Buffalo State jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Oswego responded with a run its own, recording four unanswered, but the Bengals scored the last four goals of the half and took a 10-5 lead into halftime. Buffalo State remained in control for the final 30 minutes, including netting the final three goals of the game.
The Bengals outshot Oswego, 33-19, and held a 24-14 advantage in ground balls. Defensively, Buffalo State caused 10 of the Lakers' 24 turnovers, while committing 18 of its own. Farrell and
Kelsey Hodge (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) led the Bengals with two caused turnovers apiece and
Adelena DiDuro (Geneva, NY/Geneva) had seven saves in the win.
Buffalo State will host nationally-ranked Cortland Saturday at 1 p.m.
