Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Plattsburgh, Loses in Five Against Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (15-9/2-4) raced past Plattsburgh (4-10/0-5) in straight sets, but dropped a marathon five-set match to host Brockport (10-7/3-3) today to close out the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play.
 
Buffalo State made short work of the Cardinals in the morning match, cruising to the victory, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-22.  Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had nine kills to pace the Bengals' offense.  Jennifer Cecchettini (Hamburg/Frontier) was also active at the net, chipping in seven kills to go with 17 assists.  Britt Hallett-Jonathan (Basom/Akron) added 15 assists.  Courtney White (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) was involved on three of Buffalo State's six blocks.
 
The late match with Brockport was back-and-forth from the opening serve, but the Bengals eventually fell, 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22 and 17-19.  Parente was a force on offense again, posting 20 kills and four blocks.  Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) added 11 kills and four blocks, while Jessica Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) also had 11 kills.  Hallett-Jonathan and Cecchettini shared the setting responsibilities again, recording 22 and 21 assists respectively.  Rachelle Kelchlin (W. Seneca/St. Mary's) led six Buffalo State players with double-digit digs with 21.  Allie Opera (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Delaney Laper (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) had 18 and 16 digs respectively.
 
Buffalo State will visit Medaille on Tuesday for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
