Box Score BUFFALO, NY—Nick Berst (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and Dan Turgeon (Centennial, CO/Cherokee Trail) scored two goals each and fourth-seeded Buffalo State (10-11-5) exploded for five goals in the second period en route to a 7-2 victory over visiting fifth-seeded Brockport (10-13-3) in a SUNYAC Quarterfinal contest tonight at the Ice Arena.

Jake Rosen (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North), Billy Strakosch (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) and Ben Kramer (Great Neck, NY/Great Neck South) also scored for Buffalo State, while Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca), Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) and Ryan Salkeld (Suffolk, VA/Churchland) picked up two assists apiece.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on a pair of goals by Berst, including a shorthanded marker after he blocked a shot from the point and raced in alone on the goalie. The Bengals top line went to work early in the second period and pushed the lead to 4-0 after a pair of quick strikes by Turgeon, with Pryce and Zannella each drawing assists on both goals.

Brockport jumped back in the game briefly with two goals just 1:11 apart to cut the deficit to 4-2. Buffalo State responded just moments later with three goals in a span of just 2:06 to close the middle frame with a 7-2 advantage.

Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) did the rest for Buffalo State, stopping all 14 shots he faced in the third period, finishing with 28 stops for the game. Buffalo State ended with a 34-30 advantage in shots. The Bengals were 1 for 3 with the man-advantage, while Brockport finished just 1 for 6.

Buffalo State advances to the semifinals for the third-consecutive season and will visit top-seeded Geneseo this Saturday at 7 p.m. The Bengals are looking to advance to the SUNYAC title game for the first time in school history.
