FARMINGDALE, NY—
Megan Chapple (Utica/Whitesboro) scored with just 1:16 remaining in regulation and Buffalo State (1-1) earned a 1-1 draw in its season-opener against host Farmingdale State (1-0) today in the opening round of the Farmingdale Classic.
Buffalo State had a 4-1 edge in shots in the first half, but neither team could score. Farmingdale finally broke through with the game's first strike in the 50th minute. The Bengals bounced back and continued to apply pressure until Chapple scored in the 89th minute with a rebound goal to force overtime.
Farmingdale had the only two shots of the extra periods, but both sailed off target. Buffalo State registered an 11-7 advantage in shots for the game, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bengals also owned a 6-2 margin in corner kicks.
Buffalo State will conclude the Farmingdale Classic tomorrow against Western Connecticut State at 11:30 a.m.
