Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Blanks West Conn, 1-0

FARMINGDALE, NY—A pair of firsts for freshmen Jessica McCarey (Middletown/Middletown) and Tianna Hatch (Endicott/Elmira Free) paced Buffalo State (1-0-1) to a 1-0 victory over Western Connecticut State (0-2) today at the Farmingdale Classic.

McCarey made six saves for her first collegiate shutout in just her second appearance, and Hatch netted her first goal as a Bengal for the game's only offense.

Hatch's goal on a rebound of a shot that caromed off the post in the 30th minute was the difference in an evenly played first half.  The Bengals took control from there, outshooting West Conn, 9-4, over the final 45 minutes and kept the Colonials at bay.  Buffalo State finished the game with a 15-9 advantage in shots and a narrow 5-4 margin in corner kicks.

Buffalo State will open the home portion of its schedule next Saturday with a non-conference game against D'Youville at 4 p.m.
