The Bengals wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, netting a goal just 3:31 into play. Joe Vucic (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) tallied his eighth goal of the season off a great pass up the middle of the field from Francesco Cardillo (Tonawanda, NY/St. Thomas Aquinas (ON)).
Buffalo State nearly took a 2-0 lead six minutes later, but Cardillo's shot went wide of the net by inches.
Midway through the first half, the Knights came close to tying the game, but the post and a great save from goalkeeper Hunter Hein (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) kept the Bengals ahead.
The Buffalo State defense held strong in the closing minutes of the half to keep the Bengals ahead 1-0, despite being outshot 9-3.
In the second half, Vucic was able to get another quick shot off in the opening minutes of play, but the Knights goalkeeper came up with a big save.
Minutes later, Geneseo struck to tie things up with a header off of a corner kick.
Vucic continued to try to push things on offense, but could not find the back of the net.

The Knights managed to find the back of the net in the 80th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
With time running out, Devonte Black (Pickering, ON/Notre Dame Catholic) made a great pass to a wide open Tristan Myers (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas), but Myers shot sailed wide right.
Geneseo finished the game with a 16-8 advantage in shots, while both teams recorded four corner kicks apiece.
