BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (6-6/2-4) avenged a home loss against Brockport (5-7/2-3) just 10 days ago, racing past the Golden Eagles on their home court, posting an 85-69 victory tonight in a SUNYAC contest.
Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) led a balanced Bengals' scoring attack with 17 points to go with 12 rebounds.
Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) netted 15 points, while
Larry Rivers (Syracuse/Fowler) scored 12.
Chris Cartwright (Binghamton/Binghamton) chipped in 11 points and dished out seven assists, and
Derrick Fernandez (Brooklyn/Herbert H. Lehman) added nine assists to go with five points and seven rebounds.
Buffalo State never trailed and jumped out to an early 17-7 lead before taking a 50-35 advantage into the intermission. The Bengals limited Brockport to just one point in the first six minutes of the second half, stretching the lead to as many as 30 before coasting to the win.
The Bengals shot 45-percent from the field, including going 7 of 18 from 3-point range, and also hit 16 of 20 from the charity stripe. Brockport shot just 35-percent and was 5 of 21 from long range. Buffalo State dominated the boards, outrebounding the Golden Eagles, 54-33.
Buffalo State will visit Geneseo in search of another SUNYAC win tomorrow at 2 p.m.
