Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s Hockey Trips Johnson & Wales, 2-1

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Ryan Salkeld (Virginia Beach, VA/Churchland) had a goal and an assists, and Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/JFK) finished with 28 saves as Buffalo State (6-8-2) defeated host Johnson & Wales (8-6-1), 2-1, tonight in a non-conference game.

JWU scored the only goal of the first period on the power play, but Salkeld's eighth of the season from Charles Lapierre (St-Marc de Fighery, QC/Upper Canada College) and Todd Graham (Park Orchards, Australia) evened the score midway through the second frame.  Freshman  Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) lit the lamp for the second time this season for what would prove to be the game-winner midway through the third with assists from Salkeld and Jason Zaleski (Scranton, PA/Scranton) xx

The game was evenly contested throughout with both teams exchanging 29 shots apiece.  Buffalo State finished 0 for 4 with the man-advantage, and JWU was 1 for 3.

The Bengals also defeated the Wildcats 5-3 in Buffalo on Dec. 13.

Buffalo State will play its final non-conference game of the season tomorrow at Curry at 4:40 p.m.
