Women’s Soccer Holds Off Oswego, 3-2, Extends Record Winning Streak to Nine

OSWEGO, NY—Three different Bengals scored and Buffalo State held off Oswego in the second half to claim a 3-2 victory and extend its winning streak to a new school record nine games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tianna Hatch (Endicott/Elmira Free) opened the scoring in just the seventh minute, tallying on a breakaway for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
  • Breanna Knight's (Valley Stream/Valley Steam South) third goal of the season late in the first half extended the lead with an assist from Emma Laffey (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown).
  • Gabrianna Boldinski (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute when she converted off a free kick from Melissa Smith (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield).
  • Oswego would score its first goal just over three minutes later, and then scored again in the 71st minute, but the Bengals kept the Lakers at bay the rest of the way.
  • Jessica McCarey (Middletown/Middletown) had six saves in goal for Buffalo State.
  • Oswego outshot Buffalo State 17-10, including 13-6 in the second half and had an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Audrey Burbidge and Jess Graci netted the Oswego goals. 
  • Alyssa Glasshagel finished with just two saves in net.
