BUFFALO, N.Y.— Buffalo State could not sustain a fast start, dropping a four-set decision in a non-conference matchup against the University of Rochester on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Bengals jumped out to a quick start in the first set, gaining control early and scoring the final four points to take the 1-0 lead.
- The teams switched roles in set two as the Yellowjackets started on a 7-1 run. Buffalo State battled back to within three points, 21-18, but the University of Rochester managed to hang on to tie the match 1-1.
- Buffalo State opened set three with an 11-3 run, but the Yellowjackets did not settle. The University of Rochester slowly crept back into the match. A five point run in the middle of the set gave the Yellowjackets the momentum they needed to win that set 26-24.
- The fourth and final set started out close and remained back-and-forth until the University of Rochester used a 10-2 run to seal the overall win.
- Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) led the Bengal offense with 10 kills. She also tallied a team-high five blocks.
- Jennifer Cecchettini (Hamburg/Frontier) recorded 19 assists and eight digs.
- Defensively, Britt Hallett-Jonathan (Basom/Akron) finished with 14 digs, while Rachelle Kelchlin (W. Seneca/St. Mary's) and Delaney Laper (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) added 11 and 10, respectively.
FOR THE FOES- Jennie Ford recorded 18 kills and Audrey Goldfarb dished out 14 assists.
- Meghan Connor and Jennie Ford each tallied 19 digs.
- The Yellowjackets finished the match with a 42-29 advantage in kills and a 14-6 advantage in aces.
NOTEWORTHY- Tonight's match was recognized as the women's volleyball's annual Professor Appreciation Night. The team thanks their professors for their support and all they do, not only for Buffalo State student-athletes, but also for the Buffalo State community.
UP NEXTBuffalo State will close out the 2015 season this Friday and Saturday when the Bengals host the Buffalo State Bengal Challenge. On Friday at 6 p.m., the Bengals will take on St. Lawrence and on Saturday they face St. John Fisher at 11 a.m. and Allegheny at 1:30 p.m.
