Men’s Hockey Wins Fourth Straight, Tops Brockport, 6-4

BUFFALO, N.Y.—  Anthony Beaumont (Lester, PA/Interboro) scored two goals, including the game-winner to help lead Buffalo State past Brockport 6-4 in a SUNYAC matchup on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brockport was the first to get on the scoreboard with a quick goal just 5:15 into the first period.
  • Beaumont's first goal tied the game back up, 1-1, with just under four minutes left in period one.
  • The Golden Eagles answered right back, taking advantage of a power play opportunity and regaining the lead at 18:53.
  • Once again, the Bengals tied things back up with just five seconds remaining in the first period as Sean Hrivnak (Laval, QC/College Laval) found the back of the net with assists from Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim) and Mac Wood(Simcoe, ON/SCS).
  • Buffalo State came out on fire offensively in the second period. The Bengals scored three goals in less than five minutes. Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) netted the first at 1:29. Jason Zaleski (Scranton, PA/Scranton) found the back of the net at 3:45 and Beaumont scored his second of the night on a power play opportunity at 5:22.
  • Brockport answered back, cutting the Bengals lead down to a goal, 5-4 late in the second period.
  • Wood scored the only goal of the third period 21 seconds in and the Bengals held off the Golden Eagles to seal the 6-4 win.
  • The Bengals outshot the Golden Eagles 43-28 and finished 1 for 6 on the power play.
  • Buffalo State had 12 players tally points in the win.
  • Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) earned the win in net and recorded 24 saves.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Tim Kielich led the Brockport offense with three points off a goal and two assists.
  • Cole Burack recorded the loss in net and made 37 saves.
  • The Golden Eagles finished 2 for 5 on the power play.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will return to action at home after Thanksgiving for a 7 p.m. Friday matchup against nationally recognized St. Norbert.
