Women’s Basketball Falls at RIT, 97-74

ROCHESTER, N.Y.— Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) and Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) each tallied 16 points, but the Bengals could not overcome a 15-point first half deficit, falling to RIT 97-74 in a non-conference matchup on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State opened up the game with the lead, going ahead 8-4 just over two minutes into play, but the Tigers would quickly take advantage in transition to take over the lead.
  • Eight quick points, including two threes from RIT's Jessica Glaz gave the Tigers momentum and a lead they would not relinquish.
  • Trailing 56-38 with seconds left in the first half, the Bengals Aaliyah Graham (Hungtington/Elwood-John Glenn) raced down the court and launched a 3-pointer that beat the buzzer to cut RIT's lead to 15 heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, Buffalo State tried to mount a comeback, as Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) hit a three to pull the Bengals to within 13 points midway through the third.
  • The Tigers responded, however, with a final push and tallied a 21-6 run to put them ahead 83-55 with nine minutes left in the game.
  • In the final minutes, the closest the Bengals would come to RIT was 19 points, 89-70.
  • Buffalo State finished the game shooting 36.4 percent from the floor, 25 percent from long range and 61.9 percent from the free throw line.
  • Perry and McLean led the offense, while Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) added 15 points and seven boards.

  • Glaz led the Tigers offense, while Amanda Olsen added 21 points and Tara Lynch recorded 19 points.
  • RIT finished the game shooting 55.1 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from long range and 62.5 percent from the free throw line.
