Women’s Basketball Downs Alfred State, 80-59

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds to help lead the Bengals past Alfred State 80-59 in a non-conference matchup on Monday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alfred State took advantage of a slow start and early turnovers from the Bengals to open the game on an 11-4 run.
  • The Pioneers remained in the lead until the last 39 seconds of the first quarter, but 10-straight points from Perry helped put Buffalo State on top 23-18 heading into the second quarter.
  • Once the Bengals took over the lead, they remained in control and never looked back finishing the first half with a 15 point lead, 42-27 heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, Buffalo State pushed its lead out to 31, 62-31, off a jumper from Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) at 3:35.
  • The Pioneers would find themselves no closer than 21 points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
  • Buffalo State outrebounded Alfred State 64-41, forced the Pioneers into 25 turnovers and outscored them 40-22 in the paint.
  • The Bengals finished the game shooting 33.3 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from the free throw line.
  • Four Buffalo State players scored in double-digits and two recorded double-doubles. Perry led the way, while Yastremski added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) also tallied 12 points and Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
     
    FOR THE FOES
  • The Pioneers shot 38.6 percent from the floor and 61.9 percent from the free throw line.
  • Breana Gleaton recorded a double-double, leading the Alfred State offense with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kelly Kane added 11 points and Joselyn Johnson chipped in eight.

    Buffalo State will return to action on Friday night as the Bengals travel down the New York State Thruway to take on RIT for a 6 p.m. matchup in the last matchup before the New Year.
