BUFFALO, NY—Sixth-seeded Buffalo State will make a quick turnaround trip to visit No. 3 New Paltz for a SUNYAC Quarterfinal game tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Buffalo State finished the regular season 12-13 overall and was 9-9 in SUNYAC play to return to the playoffs for the second-consecutive season and for the fifth time in six years.
Seniors
Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) and
Olivia Luciani (E. Syracuse/E. Syracuse-Minoa) have paced the Bengals' offense which leads the SUNYAC, averaging 69.3 points-per-game. Wallace is averaging 13.3 points and 7.7 rebounds-per-game, and Luciani is averaging 11.3 points. Junior
Brittnee Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) is adding 10.9 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds-per-game.
New Paltz is 17-8 overall and won its final three regular season games to finish 13-5 in league play. Buffalo State split the regular-season series against the Hawks, winning 69-68 on Jan. 24 in the Sports Arena, but lost at New Paltz just this past Friday, 73-63.
Buffalo State received a bye as the No. 2 seed into the semifinals last season where it was defeated by No. 3 Geneseo. The Bengals won a pair of games in 2012 to advance to the title game in 2012. Buffalo State is looking for its 10th SUNYAC Championship and first since 2002.
Tickets will be available at the door. Adult tickets are $6, Children (ages 5-12) are $3 and all SUNYAC Students are admitted free of charge with proper school ID.
The winner of tomorrow's game will advance to the semifinals against No. 2 Cortland on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at top-seeded Geneseo.
