Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Scranton, 13-7

SCRANTON, Pa.—Scranton (1-2) scored nine of the game's first 10 goals and then held on for a 13-7 victory over visiting Buffalo State (1-1) today in a chilly non-conference contest.

Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endicott) and Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview/Frontier) paced the Bengals' offense with two goals and an assist each.  Freshman Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) also scored twice, while fellow rookie Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added a single marker.

Scranton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 1:02 of the game and led 7-1 at halftime.  The Royals pushed the lead to 9-1 early in the second half, before the Bengals responded with three-straight goals to get back in the game.  Buffalo State would not be able to cut the deficit to less than five the rest of the way, however.

The Royals outshot Buffalo State 31-20 for the game, including 21-10 in the first half.  Scranton also posted a 15-7 advantage in draw controls.

Buffalo State will open its home schedule on Saturday, March 14 against St. John Fisher at 1 p.m.
